Nature[]
Created (generally) using Nutrient Paste, Protein Circuits are microchips, composed of synaptic patterns and cybernetic circuitry for interface with computer systems. They allow for the computer to learn and adapt faster and beyond most A.I. programs. These benefits are why they are rarely used and usually outlawed.
History[]
Intended as a cheap and easy replacement for normal microchips, they were quickly abandoned after it was revealed that they caused A.I. programs to evolve beyond their parameters and even go mad. Some version of them have safety locks but most races do not develop them further enough.
