Pulse weapons are design to allow conventional weaponry, weapons using bullets, to operate in space. They work by using pulses of ionic discharges to ignite specially design bullets. They are pushed forward by controlled and condensed bursts of ions.
They are the direct predecessors to Mass Drivers and Plasmatic Rifles.
